Accreditation Canada builds a partnership with Georgian healthcare organizations

In early May 2023, a series of signing ceremonies took place in Tbilisi as Georgian healthcare organizations joined Accreditation Canada’s Qmentum International program. More than ten organizations have already taken part.

The initiative aims to build the capacity to sustain a culture of safety, raise awareness of why quality matters and create lasting improvement across the country. Accreditation Canada’s partner in Georgia, Dr Giorgi Pkhakadze, and his team provide advisory services to help program members prepare for accreditation.

Georgia has been implementing universal health coverage since 2013. International accreditation became mandatory for facilities that receive state funding, and Accreditation Canada is among the organizations able to carry out that accreditation. The Qmentum program is built on the latest scientific evidence and international guidance, and places patients and their families at the centre of care.
